LO2: Film Inspirations

Alien:
This film supports a sort of survival theme as the protagonist try to survive an alien infestation, this relates to ours as our short film's protagonist tries to survive a night of terror as he is haunted by his brothers through hallucinations. The film's also a thriller which is tense, exciting and scary, which is what we want our film to be.

The Decent:
This film has a psychological theme that play with the protagonist's head and plays with the ideas of clausetrophobia and disorientation, which is what we want our film to do with the hallucinations that our protagonist has. This film is also a thriller and has a lot of tension created by the disorientation.

Dead Man's shoes:
This film has a theme of a brother's love, this fits into the plot of our film which follows the protagonist trying to find his brother in a forest, it also has themes of determination, this will be shown with the protagonist being determined to find his brother.

Title:
Silent Captive

Narrative:
A 17 year old boy goes into a forest to look for his dead brother.

Genre:
The genre of this short film is going to be a thriller and this is because I think that it is the genre that works best for a dark forest and the narrative is going to have hallucinations that would fit the genre of Thriller.

Characters:
Oscar Brandon: A 17 year old boy who regularly has visions of his dead younger.
Sam Brandon: The dead 16 year old brother of Oscar. He is shown through hallucinations.

Synopsis:
A 16 year old boy, Sam Brandon, had gone missing 9 months ago, his brother, Oscar Brandon, decides to go into the forest to find out what happened to him. Oscar has tormented moments where he can talk to the dead brother. This leads to a strange conversation between Oscar and the hallucination of his brother Sam where Sam tells Oscar not to find him in the forest. Oscar goes to the forest anyway and starts hallucinating badly, he can see and hear something following him and chasing him out of the forest. He manages to get out and trips over.
