LO2: Script Research

Alien Script (1979) (screenplayexplorer.com/wp-content/scripts/Alien.pdf):

Silence of the Lambs Script (1991) (http://screenplayexplorer.com/wp-content/scripts/The-Silence-of-the-Lambs.pdf) :

Shutter Island Script (2010) (http://screenplayexplorer.com/wp-content/scripts/Shutter_Island.pdf):

The script we are writing will hopefully be heavily influenced by these three scripts. They will most importantly inspire the layout of our script at the majority of scripts follow the same conventions such as justifying the right features to their right places such as the edit decisions being placed to the right and dialogue being centred along with the name of the character (In capitals), the specific layout could be the 'Shutter Island' script as it's clean and simple. They also describe the characters in a few lines and also make sure that the dialogue fits the character, as seen in the 'Silence of the Lambs' script where the character, a Doctor who should be serious, talks very formal as seen when he says "Your bleeding has stopped", which fits his personality and this is something we have to do to our characters in the script, with them being teenagers they would have to be a bit informal due to stereotypical teens. The narrative seen in the scripts, in this case the 'Alien' script, have to be fluid and move on from one moment to the next clear and simple, which this script does by giving a detailed screen direction. This is something we will need to do in our script as it will help make it easier to make a short film from it in the future and make it clear to the storyboard writer what needs to be drawn.
